Yummy dinner!

I got these boxed dinners from the grocery store and I thought that I would tell that we really liked them! They were fairly quick to make and it really does taste like Macaroni Grill (minus the price!)

If anyone has any ideas for a fairly easy meal, let me know!! I run out of ideas fairly quick!

Festival of Trees

This first tree is for Dan and Staci! Everytime we see RedSox, we think of the fun that we had with them at the game! We miss and love you guys!
Everything on and around this tree was Red Sox!

My little nephew Connor is a little Fix it man!! Anytime his dad is fixing something, he wants to be right there helping. This tree reminded Joe and I of him! The tree was covered in tools.

This is a little saying that was below a tree for a Grace Gledhill (weird how close the names are) but it reminded me of our little niece that we miss SO much! (The saying says "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.")

This was a gingerbread house of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs! Cute!

This one was for Shrek.
This was the first thing that Joe saw when we walked in... Pretty cool car I say!

Festival of Trees-Grace

This year, a friend of the Elggren family, donated a tree in memory of Grace. It was beautiful! The family all got together on Saturday morning and went to the Festival. Such an amazing act of service!! Thanks Pierson's!

Water Heater

We finished putting our Christmas tree together and Joe went downstairs to get the container that the empty boxes went in and then he didn't come back. I started to get worried about where he had disappered to so I went downstairs to find him staring at our water heater....

I asked him what he was doing and he told me that his socks were wet from walking on the carpet just in front of our water heater so he was afraid we had a leak. We got to searching and found out that we had a slow but VERY consistent leek coming from the TOP of our water heater and then was dripping down the back of the heater. Then to make matters worse, there is a hump of cement in front of the drain so pretty much about 5% of the water was actually making it into the drain. The other 95%.....all over! It was in the hall in front of the utility closet, back in our spare bedroom closet and then into half of that spare bedroom. Well I called my mom to see if we could borrow a wet vac.

We sucked up about 5 plus gallons of water out of our carpet and surrounding areas!

We had to pull up the carpet in the spare room, into the hall and almost out into the living room because there was no seam.
This is where the problem started. But all is good now!! We were able to get a Christmas present on Decemeber 1st so lucky us! Our new water heater works like a charm and we are so very glad that out of this whole thing, it wasn't any worse! (And Joe was able to learn how to install a new Water Heater!) Thanks Hun!

Tithing settlement

This week we went to tithing settlement. We have such a great bishop that gave us some good things to remember and work on.
  • Donate to the missionary fund. Missionaries are to have $400 a month. Our bishop said that if we gave a dollar a month (per person) our ward could pay for a missionary for a month. What a small amount of money that can go such a long ways. He also said that any amount of a donation, will bring missionary experiences into our lives!
  • Work on your food storage. Make it so that if you had to live off of it, you could! Also a suggestion was to put paper products in your storage. Even though you have plates and cups, you don't want to have to waste your water on cleaning your dish!
  • Get at least a 4 generation pedigree chart for each person in your home. (I went to work putting my geneology into the PAF software and it amazed me how far back I could go!- with help from charts my mom and the family search had.)
  • Donate to Fast Offerings

So Joe and I were both very motivated after that and we have gone to work on these things! We also got a tithing slip and there is more than just a line for tithing and fast offerings!!! HA HA HA! I am not sure how many times in my life I have filled one of those out but I am just realizing that there are other lines. Joe and I's goal is to donate a little money to each line. I know that we will be blessed.

Grace

Since I was a little tied up last week, I am going to do two posts this time. On November 7, 2009, Heaven got a little sweeter with our cute niece Grace. She passed away at home and we will miss her soooo much! But we have learned so much from that little girl!

  • Life is short

  • Dance in the rain

  • Have something that helps you go to sleep (Pink and Soft)

  • Have a purpose (if you saw the picture with her driving a little car, you will understand!)

  • Remember the people that matter most in life

  • When someone you love walks in the door, go as fast as you can to greet them!

  • Your never too little to have some pig tails

  • Love shoes!

The list could go on and on!! She is such a special girl and we will always remember how sweet she is!

The Funeral was an amazing one! It brought such comfort into my life! I can't imagine not having the gospel. It is such a blessing. The Hills are such great people and we are grateful they are our family!

"God is my copilot"

This week has been just a usual week.
Monday: I had to go to work cleaning an office building.
Tuesday: Joe had school and I passed out flyers to the YSA in our ward. (Joe and I are the YSA advisors) I managed to get out to everyone so that was good!
Wednesday: I had to do my cleaning job and Joe had meetings and visits for church.
**Funny story** While Joe was doing visits, we (my sister and friend Tina) had Tina's husband run over to the church and put a hitch cover on that says "God is my copilot". When Joe came home, he said "so I guess while I was a my meetings, some christan group came around and put this cover on my hitch that says "god is my copilot". I was like "Oh really! That's weird! Did Steve (Elder's pres.) have one on his truck?" "He was like I don't know...let me call him!" So he called him and they were just in disbelief about this. Joe was the only one that had one! (weird) So then I was like well was there a note or anything? So he goes down and brings it to me and was like "THE BIRDS did it!!! Were you in on this?" I just started busting up!! It was so funny!! So now we are supposed to pass it on. We are thinking the bishop...
Thursday: We went to dinner with my family and then my mom and sisters and I went to The Window box. They were having an open house that everything was 40% off. I got some cute stars. Then we went on a Limo ride down to another store. It was pretty fun!
Today: I had the day off so I mowed the lawn, Cleaned the wheels on my car, and then Buddy decided to run away! Dang Dog!! He finally came home and run inside and under our bed. I was so mad at him! He got put in doggie time out! Now I get to tend little Landon! (Thanks Kirst and Matt!!)
